Hello guys, I am extremely happy to start off with this blog. As a huge matcha enjoyer I cannot wait to share with You some of my insights and tips on how to make matcha. Whether you are an experienced matcha consumer or just a person who wants to keep track on the newest trends, this website is for You. If you are a parent, who cannot stand not understanding your children’s obsessions - this website is also for you:)

I have been to Japan last summer and did a lot of research on the topic of this amazing tea. I have visited many extraordinary places, including Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nara or Mijajima. I searched for matcha in every each of this places…But before I tell you about that we need to start with some basics (newcomers are heartly welcomed).

2 Billion

the world is consuming over 2 Billion cups of matcha per year!

Matcha is finely ground green tea powder traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Unlike regular green tea, you consume the entire leaf, which delivers concentrated antioxidants, L-theanine, and a gentle caffeine boost. This combination provides sustained energy without the jitters often caused by coffee. Even a small daily ritual can transform your mornings into mindful moments.

What is Matcha?

For beginners, it’s best to start with ceremonial-grade matcha. Look for vibrant green color, smooth texture, and single-ingredient powder without fillers or sugar. Avoid overly bitter or dull-colored powders — they indicate lower quality. If you’re curious about price, ceremonial matcha is usually higher than culinary, but the experience is worth it for drinking rituals.

Choosing Your First Matcha

You don’t need a complicated setup. All you need is:

  • Ceremonial matcha powder

  • Bamboo whisk (chasen)

  • Scoop or teaspoon

  • A bowl or cup

Some matcha packages might mislead you, making you think that it is a good quality matcha. The easiest way to spot a good matcha is to look for 1) a tin 2) little text (in japanese would be best) 3) numbered matcha. I will talk about it in the next posts, so stay tuned!
