hika.matcha is a non-profit website which serves as a reliable guide for anyone who is interested in matcha green tea. Our mission is to establish a far-reaching database, which could help people to prepare matcha at home, instead of wasting money on overpriced tea in cafes.

The global matcha market was valued at about $3.14 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach around $5.81 billion by 2029,

Japan’s matcha production almost tripled from ~1,471 tons in 2010 to ~4,176 tons in 2023 as demand soared worldwide.

Around 45 % of cafés and specialty shops now include matcha beverages on menus

Our Team

Hello, my name is Zuza and I am a high school student. I am passionate about Japanese culture and never miss an opportunity to travel. I believe that the increasing demand for matcha not only puts a strain on resources, but also creates disparities between people. Matcha has become a symbol of status — associated with a healthy lifestyle, Pilates, and expensive holidays.

My goal, as a member of hika.matcha team, is to point that matcha is more than just a trend. It is a healthy and flavorful drink that should be appreciated for its nutritional benefits, not used to highlight one's financial status.
