How to make matcha?

Before getting to work acknowledge that it will take you 10-15 minutes (at least for the first time)

Preparation

  1. Boil some water, pour it into a mug and soak a chasen. Hot water will make it more flexible. Before using this water for matcha make sure that it is between 70 ℃ and 80 ℃.

  2. Soak your matcha bowl in hot water as well. It will provide heat from escaping for some time.

  1. Sieve two big scoops of matcha through a sieve

  1. Make a koicha. Add 5-10 ml of cold water, while whisking. You should obtain a dense paste. The denser, the better.

  1. Add 45 ml of water (70℃-80℃). Whisk in W or M motion quickly for about 20 seconds. Remember to whisk smoothly, which means slowing down rather than suddenly stopping.

  1. Pour 120 ml of milk into a glass and froth it until it becomes smooth. Add cubes of ice and optionally agave syrup. Here you could add also some other flavoured syrup f.e. strawberry syrup.

*If you want to prepare a warm matcha latte use hot milk.

  1. Pour matcha into a glass. Now matcha is ready. Enjoy the ritual!
